We are working in partnership with Ghanaergize Company Ltd (GCL) in ACCRA on Waste Management & MMW WORLD Ltd (MMW) in Kadjebi in Volta Region on solar farm development. MMW WORLD Ltd are partnering us in Ghana - PSECC Ltd, Ghana Light Ltd & Simbrofo Light Ghana Ltd have been developing Climate Change Mitigation in Ghana for three years. We are developing two 50MW Solar Farms at NSUTA-BUEM - Kadjebi Volta Region and one 20MW Solar Farm at Simbrofo - Central Region of Ghana.
Our company Simbrofo Light Ghana Ltd has been registered on the 12th October 2016 in order to take forward our first of three Solar Farms in Ghana at Simbrofo in Central Region. We have been assisted by Alpin Sun GmBH over a three year period on this project for EPC.
Our approach is to make sure that Ghana get value for money and receive from us the best designed Solar Farms with maximum power output together with bringing substantial community benefits such as a new school, solar water pumps and street lighting and possible FREE 20 watt solar panels for villagers around each of the Solar Farms. To be able to do this we will need from the Ministry of Energy an open ended PPA, minimal losses at the sub station connection.
If we can get the PPA with a Sovereign Guarantee over twenty years and possible at a higher FiT of between $0.0886 to $0.10 per KWh then all the community enhancement can take place. September 2017 - Our PPA FiT payment has been set at $0.0886 per KWh and will be issued in June 2018.
Dan Walker has been assisting our African Development programme for three years. Our chosen EPC company for Simbrofo.
We had been granted by the old Government a Provisional License on the 20th December 2016 for the Simbrofo Solar Farm.
The new Government have now been elected and very detailed work has been undertaken by them to put in place Policies and Strategies to make possible Sustainable Renewable Energy in Ghana.
Negotiations had taken place last year and now this year in August with the New Government and As the Provisional License was granted and issued on the 20th December 2016. PPA draft issued in November 2017 to be agreed upon late November and a Sovereign Guarantee (PCOA) requested from the Ministry of Finance in December 2017. Our Simbrofo PPA will now be issued in June 2018 and construction could be from August / September 2018.
Simbrofo Light Ghana Ltd - The SPV owning company, Registered in ACCRA Ghana for the 20MW Solar Farm at Simbrofo in the Central Region of Ghana, Directors David Tamakloe & Victor NooNoo. The Holding company is Simbrofo Light Ghana Ltd UK Ltd in the UK, Directors Alan Brewer MSc & Steve Filary HNC facilitators of the project. Possible Build start date now August / September 2018.
PSECC Ltd are now Technical advisers to the Ghana Government on Waste Management. PSECC Ltd have been appointed as Technical Advisors to the New Government of Ghana on Waste Management. November 2017 PSECC were approached by project delivery partner Jerry Turner, acting for the government of Ghana, to come up with Sustainable Waste Management solutions to their 5 million tonnes per year of MSW. In January 2018 agreement reached with the Government to proceed with new Waste-to-Energy Centres in the Country together with Engineered Sanitised Landfill site and waste transfer stations.
The environmental and political pressures for Developing Countries to have a sound Waste Management Strategy often commencing with Landfills and Western Societies to eradicate existing land fill sites need innovative solutions being developed. The New Centre Energy’s MSW to Energy solution indicates an environmentally sound technical solution to this problem. New Centre energy are able to offer a complete MSW land fill solution which will work by creating RDF from the old landfill sites, to become a feed stock for blending with fresh MSW for their Waste to Energy Plants.
We are working with PENNGATE on Waste Management for Ghana.
Reduction to Landfill
Our approach is an integrated one where we will reduce to Landfill by 100%, Recycle, Reuse, Recover and Reduce all waste streams that would normally go to a Landfill.
Ghana should look at this approach as a means of True Sustainable Waste Management.
We have a Zero Emission Gasification Plant company who assists us that comes with total funding.
MSW composition in Ghana (2015)
1% leather and rubber, and
This Simbrofo site will be the first of three 20MW Solar Farms and will form part of our 100MW Solar Farm development programme for Ghana.
The fact is, energy is a human right, but extending electricity to every human being who both requires and desires it, cannot be done solely through national electrical grids. The solution will most likely involve the implementation of mini grids and other decentralized options. This is especially true in the case of isolated communities.
Mini grids offer an alternative that entirely avoids many of the challenges that new and expensive grid infrastructure investments require. Mini grid systems are becoming increasingly competitive compared to the cost of traditional grid extension programmes, thanks to our battery storage, and are a key component in achieving universal access to electricity for all. The reasons for this are the rapidly decreasing costs of the technology, increasing reliability and a solid deployment track record, all of which have strengthened the case for the accelerated adoption of stand-alone and mini grid solar solutions across the continent.
Larger Solar Farms are also possible - grid connected.
Job creation (100 jobs), Solar Water Pumps - we will make provision for Solar Water pumps to be available to villages around each of our Solar Farms. This will be very useful on a daily basis for drinking water and possible water for irrigation for crop growing.
Waste Management in Developing Countries & beyond - Gasification & Integrated Waste Management Plants.
Reduction to Landfill by 100% - Zero Emissions
Since 1997 PSECC have pioneered new Waste Management practices and technologies such as Gasification of Waste & Integrated Waste Management Plants - totally 100% funded. Upto 70% funding available from Oman and a further 30% funding via Ghanalight.
If Ghana were able to pay a Gate fee for every Tonne of waste going to Transfer Stations and Landfill then New Gasification could also be used to eventually mean no MSW goes to Landfill and also Energy from Waste using Gasification could be possible. If no Gate Fee can be charged then PPA - Power Purchase Agreement could be issued for the KWh's generated in electricity from the Gasification plant.
We are able to provide full funding for this new Gasification for Ghana.
NCE in OMAN use - "SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins business is one of the world’s most respected design, engineering and project management consultancies. We build long-term trusted partnerships to create a world where lives are enriched through the implementation of our ideas."
They are able to provide full EPC & funding for this new Gasification for Ghana.
Solar Farms - Design, Fund & Build
DEVELOPING THE TWENTY MEGA WATT SOLAR FARM AT SIMBROFO IN GHANA.
WE REMAIN EXCITED ABOUT THIS PROJECT AND HAVE BEEN DEVELOPING IT OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS WITH THE ROYAL FAMILY WHO OWN THE LAND.
THE PROJECT WILL SEE THE GENERATION OF RENEWABLE ELECTRICITY SUPPLIED TO THE ENERGY COMPANY ECG INTO THE NATIONAL GRID AND ALSO WILL ENHANCE THE ECONOMIC ACTIVITY OF SIMBROFO AND JOB CREATION.
IN ADDITION TO THE ELECTRICiTY PRODUCTION FROM THE SOLAR FARM WE ARE ENHANCING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING 100 JOBS, SOLAR WATER PUMPS, SOLAR STREET LIGHTING, SOLAR PV PANELS FOR HOMES. ALSO BUILDING A NEW SCHOOL AND A COMMUNITY CENTRE ALSO A LIBRARY AND TWO TOILETS TOGETHER WITH EXTRA INCOME GENERATION FOR THE CHIEFS OVER A TWENTY YEAR PERIOD.
THIS PROJECT WILL DEMONSTRATE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE COUNTRY OF GHANA AND ENSURE INCREASED ECONOMIC ACTIVITY IN SIMBROFO OVER THE NEXT TWENTY YEARS.
